WestJet and Air Canada end “seat distancing” on board

Canada’s two largest airlines are ending the practice of so-called “seat distancing.”
Air Canada and WestJet were among the airlines that blocked the sale of adjacent seats to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
But starting Canada Day, their flights will have all seats open for sale.
The airlines say they have enhanced cleaning procedures in place and all those on board are required to wear a mask.
Domestic travel is expected to edge up in the coming weeks and months as inter-provincial restrictions loosen.
Canada’s border is still closed to nearly all non-residents.
