Westdale Theatre to hold free screening for overdose awareness

Hamilton’s Westdale Theatre is offering free admission to view a new film in honour of International Overdose Awareness Day on Thursday.
A viewing of “Love in the Time of Fentanyl” will be available free of charge in partnership with the Student Overdose and Prevention Network.
The documentary tells the story of a community fighting to save lives and keep hope alive in a Vancouver neighbourhood plagued by an overdose crisis.

It showcases a group of “misfits, artists and drug users” that work together to operate a renegade safe injection site in the city’s Downtown Eastside.
“Love in the time of Fentanyl” had its world premiere at the 21st DOXA Documentary Film Festival where it took home the Colin Low Award for Best Canadian Director.
The event will run this Thursday at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a question and answer period and a panel discussion.
