West Nile confirmed in Oakville, Milton

Updated The West Nile Virus has been found in the Halton region – and public health officials say it’s about one month earlier than usual.

It was found in mosquitoes at Dundas Street at Fourth Line in Oakville, and Commercial and Main Street in Milton.

It’s the earliest in the year that the virus has been found in Halton, likely due to the warm winter and spring.

Mosquitos can transmit the west nile virus to people, so public health officials are reminding people to protect themselves from bites, and have posted tips on avoiding the virus.
