Welland house fire

Two men are in hospital with serious burns after a house fire in Welland Saturday night.

Family members tell CHCH News there was an explosion at the home on Hunter drive in Welland and while four people managed to get out safely, the victims were airlifted to Hamilton General and Sunnybrook Hospital with critical injuries.

Damage to the home is estimated at around half a million dollars. Welland’s deputy fire chief says the explosion happened in the garage when a car’s fuel tank was ignited by a spark from a light.
