Welland duo charged following police chase and collision

A man and woman from Welland are facing multiple charges following a police chase and collision.
Detectives were near Crowland Ave. and East Main St. shortly before 5 p.m. on Wednesday when they noticed two people slipping in and out of consciousness inside a Hyundai parked at a 7-Eleven convenience store.
When the officers approached the vehicle, the driver put the Hyundai in gear and narrowly missed hitting the detectives as they drove away.
The vehicle sped down East Main St. and then lost control at the intersection of East Main and Wellington streets, hitting a pickup truck stopped at a red light.
The 31-year-old pickup truck driver was not injured.
The Hyundai drove away over the boulevard near Niagara Battery and Tire and collided with an unoccupied black Ford Escape in the parking lot.
The damaged Hyundai continued driving and hit the brick wall of the building.
The driver and passenger then fled on foot but were later arrested by police.
Thirty-two-year-old Stephan Jones and 30-year-old Breanne O’Neal face multiple drug possession charges. Jones was also charged with several dangerous driving offences.
