Weather dampens TIFF red carpet

Keira Knightly was on the red carpet this evening promoting her second film at TIFF. Her latest role has her playing a woman in her 20s struggling to figure out what to do with her life. But the film “Laggies” wasn’t the real story tonight as the weather impacted the festival proceedings.

The weather in Toronto was absolutely miserable. And there were delays on the red carpet, in part due to the weather.

Keira Knightly and Sam Rockwell were about 45 minutes late for the red carpet which was acting like a wind tunnel under the tarp.

But Knightly took it all in stride as she talked about why she took her role in “Laggies”: “I went through a period of doing some very, very dark films and I got to the end of Anna Karenina and I said I want to do things that are a bit lighter so I did “Begin Again” and then I did this as well because I thought the character was just incredibly optimistic and quite floppy and I usually play taut, erotic characters so it was nice to do something very different.”
