Charges have been laid against the driver of a transport truck and the company responsible after a crash in Brantford.

Police say the crash was caused by a transport truck carrying an excavator, which had its boom arm raised. The boom arm hit the bottom of the highway bridge, causing debris to scatter across the road.

Another vehicle was struck by debris, resulting in a broken windshield.

First responders did not report any injuries.

Investigators have charged the driver of the transport truck with driving under suspension, operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) with a load not secured as prescribed, as well as having an over-height and over-width load.

The company responsible for the vehicle has also been charged with permitting the operation of a CMV with a load not secured as prescribed, permitting an unlicensed person to drive a CMV, and permitting an over-height and over-width load.
