Waterloo man involved in floating Costa Concordia

The largest salvage operation of a shipwrecked cruise ship is underway. The Costa Concordia has sat off the coast of Italy for about 19 months. But now efforts are underway to remove it from the Italian reef it smashed into, killing at least 30 people, January 13th of last year.
Cindy Csordas has details on the Canadian connection to the unprecedented maritime salvage operation.
A small Waterloo company that has less than 10 employees was contacted this summer to help recover the Costa Concordia. That’s because it’s one of the only companies in the world that manufactures underwater laser scanners that are being used to assist in the salvage operation.
