Water treatment plant getting cash

The federal government is contributing up to $22.9 million towards a hi-tech solution to Hamilton’s sewage issues.
The city’s Water Director says a new facility will be built at the Woodward Sewage Treatment Plant which churns out 100 tonnes of human waste every day. The idea is to minimize transportation, with the cost capped at 110-million dollars. Private businesses are pitching technologies like incineration or suggest drying the sludge for use as fertilizer to abandon the controversial practice of injecting sewage into farm fields. When the partner is chosen, it will have to partially pay for the facility.
