Water mains snap as temperatures plunge

The freezing temperatures have triggered two water main breaks in Hamilton’s east end.

Police closed Ottawa St between Beach Rd and Burlington St this morning as crews surveyed the damage.

Traffic was also diverted on Parkdale Ave North between Glow Ave and Burlington St for a second water main break.

With this particularly cold winter, there have been an above average number of water main breaks throughout the city.
