Watch out for Paletta coyotes

The city of Burlington is warning residents to be aware of coyotes — so they’re posting signs and barricades to get the message out.
Adult coyotes and pups have been seen at Paletta Lakefront Park — that’s between Walkers Line and Appleby line. The city says people and pet owners should be aware that coyote families may charge if they feel threatened. Officials say coyotes may be in other areas as well. They recommend people carry a personal alarm or whistle while out walking — and add that pets should be kept on leashes at all times. They also say dusk and dawn are high coyote activity hours – so it’s best to avoid going for a walk at those times if you can.
