Watch out for lottery scams

The OPP are warning people about the threat of being taken in by lottery scams.

Prize fraud is the second highest fraud complaint in Canada, and fourth in terms of dollar losses reported by victims. Police say you can tell if a lottery is a fraud because legitimate lotteries don’t require people to pay a fee or tax to collect winnings, and remind people to never send money or provide personal information to anyone you don’t know or trust.
