We’ve got new footage showing the fireball that was seen in the sky in Ontario and parts of the U.S. around Wednesday afternoon.

Experts say it was likely caused by a disintegrating meteor.

This footage was captured by a dashcam on the QEW near Jordan Rd. and sent to us by viewer Brian McGrath.

The American Meteor Society says by 4 p.m., it had recorded 78 reports of the bright white burning object seen in Ontario, Maryland, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Police agencies and fire departments around central New York received 911 calls reporting a boom that shook windows.

It’s rare to see a meteor during the day because most large rocks burn up while they’re high in the atmosphere.
