WATCH: Hamilton Fire Department to give update on fatal fire

VIDEO: Ontario Fire Marshal Jon Pegg and Hamilton Fire Chief David Cunliffe will provide an update at 3 p.m. on the investigation into the fatal fire on Derby St. on Dec. 29.

The Fire Marshal will also provide a brief recap of 2022 fire fatality statistics

The Hamilton Fire Department reported an overnight structure fire, leaving four people dead including two children.

Firefighters had to enter the home through both the front and back.

They made it to the second floor where they rescued two adults and two children, after encountering heavy heat and smoke.

Hamilton fire says paramedics tried life saving measures on the scene but then transported the four to hospital where they died.
