Voters to cast ballots today in Ontario Municipal Elections

Voters head to the polls across Ontario today to elect mayors, city and town councillors and school board trustees.
The Association of Municipalities says there are over 6,000 candidates running for more than 2,800 council seats across the province.
Voter turn out in the last election in 2018 was just over 38 per cent, which was the lowest recorded since 1982.
In Hamilton, mayoral candidates were out on the campaign trail yesterday trying to sway last-minute voters.
Former NDP leader Andrea Horwath, Chamber of Commerce CEO Keanin Loomis and former Hamilton Mayor Bob Bratina are all vying for the top spot. The city is poised to have a “change election” with a new mayor and at least six new councillors.
Voters say they’re looking for change following a number of city scandals including a massive sewage spill and cover up at Chedoke Creek and the on-going expensive inquiry into the Red Hill Valley Parkway.
Polls open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. You can find your polling station on the city’s website.
CHCH will bring you special election coverage. Taz Boga and Phil Perkins will host Your Home, Your Vote coverage, starting at 10:00 p.m. tonight. It will include live reports in the Hamilton, Halton and Niagara Region at some of the key local ridings and analysis from our panel of political experts.
