Violent weekend in Hamilton

Three people were stabbed early Sunday morning and then a few hours later an elderly man was assaulted.

Family members say the victim is 72-year-old Davey Taylor Senior.

Friends say Taylor may have known the person who attacked him.

He was taken to hospital with head injuries.

Police blocked off the area around Colborne and James St. to investigate.

A 27-year-old male has been charged with aggravated assault.

Just hours before, three people were stabbed after what police say was a huge disturbance in the area of Barton and Ottawa St.

The call came in around 3:45 AM.

Officers are still trying to piece together what happened.

Police say some witnesses are not co-operating.

All three victims were taken to hospital with injuries not considered to be serious, one has since been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.

Around the same time on Sunday afternoon as the assault, there was a robbery.

Police say a man walked into the Shoppers Drug Mart on Cannon St. with a note demanding cash.

The clerk handed over the money and the suspect fled.

Police flooded the area and caught a suspect a short time later.

A 32-year-old man has been charged.
