Violent Hamilton home invasion a case of mistaken identity

Hamilton police now say the overnight home invasion on in Hamilton was the result of mistaken identity.
Officers were called to a home on Niagara St. around 12:30 a.m. Monday. The female resident told police she was attacked in her home by an unknown intruder before fleeing in her vehicle. The woman was not injured.
The woman told police she did not know the man and the suspect kept referring to her by a different name.
The suspect is described as black, roughly 6 ft tall with a heavy build. He was wearing a dark-coloured work-style jacket, black boots, black fleece gloves and a balaclava.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Hamilton police.
