Violent assault on Hamilton mountain
A consensual fight between two teenaged boys near Sir Allan MacNab Secondary School in Hamilton became a violent assault on Monday afternoon.
Hamilton Police say two groups of boys met for the fight in the area of Magnolia Drive near Wendover Drive, just off of school property – the school was not put on lockdown because the assault was over quickly.
During the fight between the two teens, three other boys jumped in and began to beat up another of the boys from the other group. It’s alleged one of the three had a chain and began to hit the boy who was originally in the fight with it. Police also say one of teens had a handgun tucked into his waistband.
A 17-year-old and 18-year-old were taken to hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. Police have arrested and charged a 15-year-old and 16-year-old, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, with various charges, including assault causing bodily harm, use of a firearm while committing an offence and breach of probation. Further arrests are pending.
