Violence and unrest in India’s Manipur state

Another night of violence and unrest in India’s eastern state of Manipur overnight.

Thousands of students took to the streets to seek justice for two students from the Meitei ethnic group.

The pair went missing over two months ago, during the peak of ethnic violence in the state. But this week, pictures of their bodies appeared on social media.

A Central Bureau of Investigation team arrived in the state’s capital today to investigate the incident, and curfews are still in place in an attempt to curb the violence.
