A vigil and march was held Tuesday night in memory of Jesse Clarke, the 14 year-old who was stabbed to death in a Hamilton street fight Monday night.

Friends and family gathered on Lincoln avenue where he was stabbed as well as his family to try to understand how such a young life could come to such a tragic end.

With candles held high even strangers gathered at his parent’s home.

His stepmother, Katherine Lutz thanked the crowd for the outpouring of support.

“I hope all the young people that are here today learn something from this. Nobody has to go through this. Your parents don’t have to”

Jesse’s death has shocked this tight knit community.

A neighbour, Kalvin Graham spoke about the neighbourhood boy.

“Jesse was a smart kid. He had too much ahead of him. He was just caught up in the wrong crowd.”

On Lincoln avenue and Barton street around 100 people lit sprarklers in his memory, chanting his name.

There was no official moment of silence. But for many there are no words to describe the sorry.

18 year-old Brodie Nicholls is facing first degree murder charges in his death.
