Victim of fatal chopper crash identified
Great Lakes Helicopter has identified the flight instructor killed in yesterday’s crash at Waterloo Airport.
Tiffany Hanna, 29, died during a routine training exercise with a student. The helicopter crashed in a pond shortly after takeoff.
The Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash. A spokesperson says the helicopter was about 300 feet in the air when there was some sort of problem and it went down. There was no distress call. The chopper’s engine is being examined but so far they say there’s no indication of what caused the crash.
The student on board was taken to Hamilton General Hospital where he’s being treated for spinal injuries. His name has not been released.
The TSB says the student was likely flying the chopper.
