Vic Toews Resigns

Federal Public Safety Minister Vic Toews is resigning as MP for his Manitoba riding effective Tuesday.
Toews made the announcement to a Manitoba radio station. He says he’ll be pursuing opportunities in the private sector. The 60-year-old was first elected to the commons 13 years ago and re-elected four times. He was Minister of Justice before being appointed to his current portfolio.
The resignation comes ahead of what’s expected to be the biggest mid-term cabinet shuffle in Stephen Harper’s seven years as Prime Minister. Two other key posts are expected to undergo changes: in defence where Peter Mackay is Minister; and in finance where Jim Flaherty currently sits as minister.
