Via Rail considers security changes

When it comes to security, taking a train in Canada could soon become more like boarding an air plane.
A Via Rail spokesman says it’s considering greater scrutiny of checked baggage, more inspections by sniffer dogs and security checks on passengers. The measures are being considered as a response to the alleged terrorist plot to derail a train that led to two arrests in April.
The alleged plot is said to have targeted the train that travels from New York City to Toronto, operated by Amtrak and Via Rail in Canada.
