Verdict in the Brandon Musgrave murder re-trial

Tyrone Chambers has been found guilty of second-degree murder; while his co-accused Joshua Warner has been found guilty of manslaughter. Warner has also been found guilty of aggravated assault on another victim. The two were facing second-degree murder charges in the death of 18-year-old Brandon Musgrave who was shot at a party 8 years ago on Dundurn street.

Chambers and Warner were originally convicted of the 2010 murder but the Ontario court of appeals threw out that conviction, saying the judge failed to properly instruct the jury.

During this trial, the court heard that both Warner and Chambers brought loaded guns to the party, which had been advertised on Facebook. Chambers got into an argument about the music being played and witnesses saw him pull out his gun shortly after. Three shots were fired into the crowded kitchen, Brandon Musgrave was fatally hit in the head. Another man was shot in the chest, while a third man was shot in the arm.

A second-degree murder charge carries a sentence of life in prison with the chance of parole anywhere between 10 and 25 years.
