Vehicle theft investigation leads to arrest of man wanted for murder: Halton police

Halton police made multiple arrests, including one suspect who was wanted for murder following a Georgetown and Milton theft investigation.

While investigating the theft of a pickup truck in Georgetown, officers learned that the suspects were staying at an Airbnb in Milton using a rented Hyundai Elantra to steal vehicles in the area.

Officers arrested three suspects at a gas station in Mississauga on Thursday.

At the time of the arrest, officers seized a loaded handgun, a large machete style knife, and tools used for auto theft.

An 18-year-old from Quebec is facing 14 charges including theft of motor vehicle, careless use of firearm, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Investigators say the 18-year-old was wanted for first degree murder in Quebec.

A 19-year-old from Quebec is also charged with theft of motor vehicle, possession of automobile master key and breach of prohibition order. This suspect was wanted by the Ontario Provincial Police for auto theft related offences.

Another 19-year-old from Quebec has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, possession of break in instruments and unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle. This suspect was wanted by Durham police for auto theft related offences.

All three suspects were held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton. Due to the ages of the suspects at the time previous offences were committed, police will not be identifying any of the accused.
