A vehicle fire on Highway 403 in Ancaster at Highway 6 South has resulted in the closure of the ramp and all westbound lanes Friday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police say the call came in just before 5 a.m. and crews arrived to find a tractor trailer fully engulfed in flames.

Sgt. Jonathan Kurtz says no injuries have been reported but the trailer was carrying building materials and flammable liquids.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) will need to assess the road to see if it is safe to open.

Kurtz says roads are expected to reopen early afternoon. However, the reopening is still subject to approval from the MTO.
