Variety store fire

Fire has caused extensive damage to a variety store in east Hamilton.

The store — on Queenston Road beside Peter’s Banquet Centre — caught fire just before 7:30am Monday.

The fire’s out now, but there’s smoke damage on the second floor.

No one was hurt from the blaze.

It’s believed an electrical problem in the basement sparked the fire.
