‘Urgent repairs’ to overhead signs on Linc force closures

Urgent repairs to the overhead sign structures on the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway (Linc) in Hamilton will force overnight closures on the busy roadway.

The city of Hamilton says the closures will begin Monday at 9 p.m. The work will include the removal of maintenance catwalks, the replacement of some sign hardware and miscellaneous welding.

The repairs are necessary due to age and general wear and tear.

Crews will begin on the westbound lanes at Upper Gage Ave. and move towards the West Mountain.

The construction will require a full closure for about three interchanges at a time.

The city says it does not have a detailed schedule for the locations of the rolling closures “due to the nature of the operations.”

Drivers can follow the signs to the emergency detour routes to bypass the closures.

The city says repairs will take roughly five nights to complete.
