The Wellwood Cancer Support Centre’s 25th annual walk/run/wheel event returned for its first in-person event since the COVID-19 pandemic, raising upwards of $50,000.

The event held at McMaster University Sunday was the first to return to its original in-person format after being shifted online for the past few years due to the pandemic.

Accessibility remained a centre focus for the event, with options to walk, run, or wheel with the use of mobility aids.

All proceeds raised in the event go towards supporting the centre that specializes in offering care and support to cancer patients to help them navigate their unique cancer journeys.

Wellwood’s Executive Director Jane George says the money raised from the event is expected to exceed their fundraising goal of $50,000.
