The murder of an Ottawa-area hitch-hiker, found dead near Halton Hills is still unsolved. The Ontario Provincial Police are going on a unique tour to try and track down any potential leads. The OPP still have idea who killed Frederick ‘John’ Hatch. The 65-year old was last seen December 16th last year at a dollar store in the Ottawa area. His lifeless body was found less than 24-hours later and over 500 kms away off highway 124 in the town of Erin, Ontario.
After requests for information in Frederick Hatch’s death on Twitter came up empty, the OPP decided to take the investigation on the road. The OPP have attached pictures of Hatch, contact information and a very easy to read $50 000 reward on the side of one of their vans in hopes of reaching a different demographic. Police learned that Hatch was known to hitch-hike, so over the next couple of weeks the van will retrace his tracks and park for about a week at each of the communities that line highway 7 between Erin and Ottawa.
