Ukraine says Russian shelling has prevented civilians from leaving

In an address many say was reminiscent of Winston Churchill, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the British house of commons by videolink, vowing to fight Russia until the end, no matter the cost.

The defiant speech comes as Ukraine says Russia has once again made a humanitarian corridor impassable, saying shelling continues, despite a temporary ceasefire deal reached on Monday.

Local officials say at least 21 people died overnight in a Russian airstrike on a residential street.

The international committee of the Red Cross issued a dire warning about the situation in the southern city of Mariupol, where truckloads of humanitarian aid were headed today, attempting to reach hundreds of thousands of civilians trapped inside.

Ukraine says its forces are holding out despite the city being surrounded.

Ukraine says a humanitarian corridor out of the city couldn’t be used today because of Russian shelling, despite a ceasefire deal reached on Monday.

Russia denies this claim and has proposed another ceasefire to allow for humanitarian corridors tomorrow. Some of the routes force Ukrainians to head for enemy territory in Russia and Belarus.
