UAW strike begins as deadline passes with no agreement

Thirteen thousand auto workers in the U.S. have stopped making vehicles, going on strike Friday after union leaders and Detroit’s three major car makers couldn’t come to an agreement on pay.

It’s the first time in the 88-year history of the United Auto Workers that all three companies are being targeted simultaneously.

The strike could cost the industry billions of dollars in lost revenue.

U.S. President Joe Biden is siding with the workers, saying the Big 3 automakers should share their “record profits.”
