U.S. Steel employees ready to strike
The count-down is on for a walkout at U.S. Steel in Nanticoke as workers have told the negotiating committee to give the company their 72-hour notice for a strike.
Workers discussed the final positions of both the union and the company at three meetings in Jarvis Thursday, ultimately telling the negotiating committee that they didn’t want to vote on U.S. Steel’s latest offer. The union local President Bill Ferguson said that even though the offer had improved, it still asked for more concessions and no raise. Three years ago, U.S. Steel locked the workers at Nanticoke out for 10 months.
