More details are coming out about U.S. Steel’s Canadian operations after they filed for protection from creditors last week.

A preliminary list of creditors shows U.S. Steel Canada owes more than $94 million to suppliers, including almost 200 Hamilton-area companies. Now that it has filed for creditor protection, those suppliers can’t sue for any money they are owed and must continue to honour their contracts with the company.

Some of the creditors say having to continue to work for U.S. Steel without getting paid is putting the future of their business at risk.
