U.S. pauses military aid to Ukraine after Zelenskyy-Trump fallout

United States President Donald Trump has ordered a pause on shipments of US military aid to Ukraine after his angry Oval Office argument with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last Friday.
The pause applies to all military equipment not yet in Ukraine. This includes shipments of critical munitions previously promised by the Biden administration.
Trump’s team has also threated to limit — or even cancel — intelligence sharing with Ukraine, and training of its troops.
The pause could be lifted if Zelenskyy agrees to enter peace talks with Russia. But such talks, for now, seem to be on the United States’ and Russia’s terms, say many world leaders.
Ukraine’s prime minister said security guarantees are needed in any peace deal and that the country won’t surrender land that Russia is occupying and wants to keep.
The move is projected to have a negative effect on Ukraine’s war-fighting abilities. A senior adviser with the Center for Strategic and International Studies told CNN that “the impact is going to be big. I would call it crippling.”
Western reports say Ukraine could likely keep up its current fighting pace for a couple months before a pause on aid would begin to have a major effect.
