U.S. man charged in Hamilton pursuit
An American man is facing charges in Hamilton after a bizarre police chase yesterday that tied up traffic for hours in the city’s downtown core.
A driver had hit a pole at King and Bay streets and didn’t respond when police arrived – but quickly drove off instead. Police stopped the car in the King and Caroline area after following it. Once again, the driver didn’t respond and police broke the car’s window to get him out, fearing he was in medical distress.
David Chapman, 30, from St Paul, Minnesota was taken to hospital and released shortly after. He’s now charged with dangerous driving, flight from police and fail to remain.
