Two women were taken to hospital after being struck by a motorcycle in front of Hamilton City Hall on Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to a crosswalk near Main St. and Summers Lane around 2:30 p.m.

Police say it appears the women were crossing the street when they were hit by the motorcycle. Investigators are still trying to determine what exactly happened but say the driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with police.

According to CBC News, the driver said he was riding his motorcycle on Main St. and had a green light, when the women stepped out in front of him off the curb.

Both women were taken to hospital, one with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police closed the two left lanes of Main St. in the area as the officers conducted their investigation. All lanes have been reopened.
