Two people were killed in Ontario during a powerful thunderstorm on Saturday. One death happened in Brant County and the other in Brampton.

OPP say one person was killed and two others were injured when a tree fell on their camping trailer in Brant County.

Emergency services arrived on scene at Pinehurst Lake Conservation Area and transported three individuals to the hospital where one of them was pronounced deceased. The two other people suffered minor injuries.

Peel Regional Police say a woman in Brampton died after a large tree struck her while she was out walking during the storm.

Around 1:30 p.m. police received a call to attend the area of Belmont Drive and Birchbank Drive in the city of Brampton. The woman was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The storm was severe enough for Environment Canada to issue an alert in some areas.
