Two people in hospital after “disturbance” on mountain: Hamilton Police

Update: Police say a man and a woman, both 63-years-old were stabbed. A 30-year-old male is in custody. The woman is in critical life-threatening condition, the man is in serious condition in hospital.
Police arrived to the area of Upper Paradise Rd. and Bendamere Ave. before 1 p.m. on Friday for a “disturbance”.
Hamilton Police are investigating a disturbance near Upper Paradise and Bendamere Ave.
There will be a heavy police presence in the area.
Please avoid the area. There are no safety concerns to the public.

Area residents reported hearing gunshots, but that hasn’t been confirmed by police.
Police say one of the people hospitalized has life-threatening injuries.
One person is in custody.

There are a few schools close to the area but police say none were placed under a hold and secure.
Police tweeted about a heavy police presence in the area but said there were no public safety concerns.
