Two people arrested following Burlington car theft investigation

Halton police have arrested two people and laid multiple charges following an investigation into a car that was stolen from a driveway in Burlington.

Officers say the theft took place around 3:30 a.m. April 26 at a home near Upple Middle Road and Appleby Line.

According to investigators, two people wearing masks emerged from a white sedan, entered the driveway and broke the window of a Lexus SUV.

One person drove off in the Lexus, while the other followed in the white sedan.

Police located both vehicles in a parking lot near Trafalgar Road and South Service Road in Oakville.

Officers have arrested and charged Jayshawn Chambers-Wint, 19, and Amir Abuhmaid, 25, both of Mississauga in connection to the theft.

The pair face charges of theft, possession of break-in instruments and disguise with intent.

Both are being held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
