Two men are facing several charges after an incident involving a stolen vehicle.

Halton Police say several people reported seeing a Mercedes driving erratically on the QEW around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The vehicle was seen exiting the highway at Walkers Line.

According to police, officers spotted the car at a gas station. One person was pumping gas and there was a passenger in the car.

Police say cruisers surrounded the Mercedes and an officer began to speak to the driver, who got back in the car, reversed and took off, hitting the cruiser parked nearby.

The officer was hit by the driver side door, which was open. He suffered minor injuries.

Police followed the vehicle but gave up chase because of weather and public safety concerns.

The driver parked the car in the driveway of a home on Sutherland Cres., about three kilometres away from the gas station.

The homeowner noticed the car was damaged and called police.

Officers were able to box in the vehicle. They say the men tried to flee again and were tasered and arrested.

According to police the vehicle was stolen from York Region.

The driver, a 29-year-old man from Brampton, is facing several charges including impaired driving, assaulting police and flight from police.

A 32-year-old man from Toronto, who was the passenger, has been charged with possession of stolen property and obstructing police.
