Two Hamilton men struck by minivan while trying to fix bike

Two Hamilton men remain in hospital after being struck by a minivan Sunday evening.
It happened shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Barton St., east of Parkdale Ave. North.
Police say the men, aged 44 and 34, were standing in the curb lane on Barton St. attempting to repair a bicycle with a trailer attached.
A 72-year-old driver travelling westbound on Barton St. struck the men before coming to a stop.
The 44-year-old man suffered serious injuries while the 34-year-old suffered life threatening injuries. Both men were rushed to hospital.
Police say the driver of the minivan was not hurt and has been cooperating with police.
“The investigation is in it’s early stages. However, impairment has been ruled out,” said Hamilton police in a news release.
