Three Georgetown schools placed in lockdown after reports of a gun

Three schools in Halton Region were in lockdown Tuesday afternoon after police received reports of a weapon being seen inside a local high school.
Police were called to Georgetown District High School around 1 p.m. after a staff member saw someone point what appeared to be a gun at a student in the cafeteria.
SCHOOL LOCKDOWN
Georgetown District High School is in lockdown after reports of a weapon being pointed inside the school. Expect a large police presence.
There are no reports of any injuries at this time.

The high school and two nearby schools, Holy Cross Catholic Elementary and Gary Allan High School, were all placed in lockdown.
Police arrived on scene and immediately took two males into custody without incident.
Officers searched the school to locate the weapon and discovered it was a water gun.
No one was hurt during the incident.
Both males were released unconditionally and no charges were laid.
All three lockdowns were lifted around 2 p.m.
We can confirm that two males have been taken into custody in relation to this incident. Our officers are working to clear GDHS at this time to ensure safety of all staff and students. Still no reports of injuries.

A lockdown is put in place when there is an emergency situation inside a school or close to school property. According to the Halton District School Board website, during a lockdown, steps are taken to isolate students, staff, and visitors from the emergency situation by having everyone remain in designated locations inside the school building.
