Two Hamilton men arrested in Hydro One break and enter

Hamilton police have arrested two men after a Hydro One compound was broken into early Wednesday morning.

A communications security team notified police two thieves had broken into the compound at 1 Elgin St. around 3:30 a.m. and stole copper wire.

The suspects were last seen in the Beasley Park area.

Officers arrived and saw two men exit the dumpster area of the parking lot and continue running eastbound towards Kelly St.

“Police were able to catch up with one of the males on foot and the second male was quickly located by our K-9 unit, hiding behind a vehicle,”
said Hamilton police in a news release.

Joel Chu, 40, and Rick Forbes, 25, have been arrested and charged with break and enter.

Both men are being held in custody and have had their bail opposed.

The stolen copper wire was found and returned back to Hydro One.
