Two dead from Milton train

A deadly tragedy near the border of Hamilton and Halton where a man and woman have died after being hit by a freight train.

This was the scene in Milton tonight near Milborough Town Line, north of Derry Road. Paramedics, police and CP Rail police were checking out the train after Halton police were called by Hamilton police just before 6pm. Beyond the massive freight train — which police say would have been travelling very fast when the incident happened — there was also a car found at the scene, believed to belong to the victims. But beyond that, police aren’t saying much else about it.

Halton police Inspector Anthony Odoardi: “As a result of the investigation, we have summoned our collision reconstruction unit and our identification bureau. We also have a number of officers on the scene, controlling the intersection, and CP police are also on scene controlling traffic on the tracks.”

The victims haven’t been identified yet, but police believe they are from Halton. No foul play is suspected.
