TTC bus crash kills one, injures 12

One woman was killed, and 12 others were injured when a Toronto transit bus hit a cube truck head-on.

It happened around 11:30 Tuesday morning Toronto’s north east end at Steeles and Middlefield Road. A woman riding the bus at the time was pronounced dead at the scene.

The TTC says the bus driver was trapped and crews used the jaws of life to free him. He was among the 12 people taken to hospital.

Paramedics say two people have serious injuries but are expected to survive.

Mayor Rob Ford extended his condolences to the victim’s family and his best wishes for the quick recovery of those hurt.
