Trumps ‘Liberation Day’ tariffs looming as Democrats test Republican support

U.S. President Donald Trump says he is planning to move forward with his broad reciprocal tariffs Wednesday.
It’s not yet clear what exactly they’ll entail, with meetings happening Tuesday to craft what the White House is calling the “perfect” approach.
All the while, Democratic Senators are pushing to pass a bill aimed at undoing the Canadian leg of the tariffs.
On the eve of what Trump is calling “Liberation Day”, Senate Democrats are putting Republican support for the tariff plan to the test, forcing a vote to nullify Trump’s emergency declaration holding Canadian levies in place.
The results of the vote from Senate are expected Wednesday, the same day Trump’s reciprocal tariffs will roll out.
