Justin Trudeau received an enthusiastic reception at Queen’s Park on Tuesday. The Prime Minister-Designate briefly sat down with Kathleen Wynne in his first meeting with a premier since his historic election win.
The pair met for under half an hour in Wynne’s office following a brief photo-op where Trudeau was asked if it was important for him to visit Ontario first. His response was that he was in the area for Ken Taylor’s funeral and was able to stop by for a quick visit.
The meeting is in stark contrast to Wynne’s icy relationship with outgoing Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The provincial opposition leaders say there needs to be more than just a positive relationship between governments.
The province is hoping for federal help to bolster CPP, so Ontario will not have to implement its own provincial pension.
