Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says details on a plan to extend the CERB will be announced this week.

The Canada Emergency Response Benefit was put in place in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It allowed Canadians to access $2,000-a-month benefit for 16 weeks.

But millions are about to max out their claim eligibility and still don’t have jobs.

On Monday, Trudeau says the Liberals are putting together a plan to extend the benefits.

The New Democrats a CERB extension is a must for them to support an $87 billion government spending proposal.

That proposal will be debated in the House of Commons on Wednesday.

The vote is a confidence motion which means the opposition parties could use it to bring down the government.
