Trucker, business charged after losing pair of wheels on highway: Brant OPP

A driver and business are facing multiple charges after losing two wheels from their trailer while driving on Highway 403 in Brant County.

Brant OPP responded to several calls for a traffic hazard on Highway 403 near Wayne Gretzky Pkwy. around 9:30 a.m. on Friday.

Investigators say the detached wheels did not strike any other vehicles and there were no reported injuries. The vehicle was taken out of service.

Officers say the driver was issued a three-day driver’s license suspension for registering an alert on the roadside Alcohol Screening Device (ASD).

A 45-year-old from Woodstock is facing eight charges including drive commercial motor vehicle in contravention of conditions and wheel separation – commercial motor vehicle.

Police have also charged the Woodstock area business with fail to ensure daily inspection is conducted properly, fail to ensure performance standards are met and more.

The accused are set to appear in a Brantford courthouse at a later date.
